About James O'Connor

James is a competitive Masters powerlifter (60+ category) and certified personal trainer who has been coaching older adults for over a decade. He competes regularly, most recently achieving a British Masters record in the deadlift at age 64.

His coaching is informed by personal experience as much as science. He understands the psychological as well as the physical challenges of training after 50 — including the fear of injury, the frustration of slower recovery, and the incredible satisfaction of hitting a new personal best at any age.

James specialises in teaching the big compound lifts — squat, bench, deadlift — with a priority on technique and long-term sustainability.
